Okay, okay. I know what you’re thinking. It’s been more than a week from my last blog post, I’ve already missed my goal! In my defense, it’s been a crazy couple of weeks! My husband was in the hospital about two weeks ago (he’s fine now!) and then we left for a 10 day trip to England and Scotland!
A friend of ours was married in Chester, England. It was a beautiful wedding and an awesome excuse to travel with friends. You better believe that I wore a fascinator! It is now my preferred hair accessory!
(I never know what to do with my hands in photos. On the hip, not? It’s an internal struggle with every picture).
After the wedding, we took a train up to Edinburgh, Scotland to spend a few days there. Scotland was not really on my bucket list of places to visit, but I’m so glad I did. The landscape is beautiful and all of the old buildings and architecture are absolutely amazing. Boston is a fairly old city with historical places and buildings, but this far surpassed that! While walking through castles, I tried to imagine what it was actually like to live during those times. Can you even imagine a time before smartphones, the internet, or FRIENDS?!

After Edinburgh, we spent a few days in London. My best friend lives there so it was great to catch up with her. My husband had never been to London and I’ve been a few times (I spent a semester at Kent University, about an hour south of London) so I feel like an old pro (I’m not!) :).
This is a view from the 32nd floor of the Shard. I am actually afraid of heights and at one point I got a little freaked out thinking that we were only being supported by metal and glass. But then I took a sip from my pricey cocktail and felt better 🙂
Between being jet-lagged and staying up late and getting up early, my mind and body are tired. I had grand plans to do a few runs while we were away and I didn’t do any. (I know some may say that I was just using this as an excuse not to run per my last post, but I’m a work in process). I’ll be using this week as a “reset” week. Time to reset my eating and fitness habits and get in better shape. I feel pretty sluggish right now.
We had a great trip and made some amazing memories! But I was so happy to sleep in my bed last night! I’m actually looking forward to going to work tomorrow, if you can believe that. I love traveling, but I love structure too!
