I recently started reading a couple of new blogs, and on one of the blogs, the writer sets monthly goals for herself and then shares how she performed after the month is over. I thought that that was a great idea! It’s a way to not only outline and set clear sights for the month, but it is also a way to hold yourself accountable. And even though I may not have many readers, because I have to type out how I did I thought this would be a good way to start reaching some goals!
My December goals are:
- Run 70 miles this month
Usually after a race, I take some time off of running, but then I have a hard time revving back up again. One of my goals for 2018 is going to be increasing my overall running pace. Making sure I am running a decent number of miles each month is one way to start working on this. This will also serve as a good base as I begin marathon training.
- Take a yoga class once a week
I really am not into yoga. I keep trying to take classes, but I usually stop going after a class or two. I know that making sure I stretch is good for my body, so I’m going to try to increase my yoga practice.
- Get up from my desk at least once an hour
As an accountant, my job doesn’t really require much stretching or any movement at all really. I’ve really noticed lately that my back/ shoulders are tight and my poster is getting pretty awful (and it wasn’t even that good to begin with). I am hoping to make it a point to get up more throughout the day.
- Enjoy the holiday season
You may think that this one is a gimme, but up until last year really, I never really looked forward to Christmas. I think I was also stressed with school or work or some other activity, but when the holidays came around I would just go through the motions, and not actually enjoy the time I was spending with friends and family. This all started to change maybe a year ago (it may have to do with the fact that I had left my public accounting job, but who knows) when one early December day I found myself excited to celebrate Christmas! I mean, I even bought Christmas- themed dish towels. Which, if you know me, is a huge deal. My mom is not one for “knick knacks” or holiday themed décor throughout the house, so this was a radical step for me. Anyway, this year, I hope to continue this excitement. I am going to try to really enjoy the time with family and be thankful for everything that I have.
I feel pretty good about these goals and can’t wait to see how it went at the end of the month!
