Getting back on the wagon

I have fallen a bit off the blogging wagon. The past couple of weeks have been a little busy and some things got pushed to the way side. I was sick the week leading up to Christmas, and I didn’t run at all. I was worried about not getting my miles in, but I felt like my body needed a break. I’ve slowly eased into running this week. It’s beyond frigid here this week (it was 1 degree this morning!)[Read more]

5 new things I tried in 2017

I am really making an effort lately to try new things. Whether that be a fitness class, a lifestyle change, or doing something outside my comfort zone, I’m learning that it’s important (and very fulfilling) to continuously challenge yourself. I think that I was pretty successful at trying something new and not just settling on the “same old same old” in 2017. If it weren’t for him, I would probably still be eating tacos every night for dinner and[Read more]

Weekly Workout Recap

Monday: barre class. I really like starting my week off with this class. It’s at night, so it’s a nice reward for making it through another Monday. Tuesday: Group run, 4.65 miles. This was my first time doing a group run, and I really liked it. Because it gets dark here so early now, I thought I should try running with a group. My watch didn’t sync with GPS right away so I only have 4 miles of splits: 9:16,[Read more]

Thoughts on Meditation

Is it just me, or has the number of people who meditate drastically increased over the last few years? Or perhaps, we’re just hearing about it more. Either way, I’m the type of person whose mind is constantly going. I’m always thinking. In fact, I largely avoid yoga classes because of the savasana portion at the end, where you relax and breathe deep for what feels like an hour. It’s supposed to be relaxing and peaceful, but the whole time[Read more]
